This week was World Space Week. In school, we have been doing lots of work linked to space and also to this years World Space Week theme: sustainability
Last year, year 5 wrote letters to local supermarkets letting them know about how they could be more sustainable. Tesco got back in touch and have asked for their help with a recycling project!
Our year 5 mini police members had lots of fun going to visit some of the amazing police horses.
Year 5 had fun going on an exciting walk to Souter Lighthouse to study our coastline and look at coastal erosion.
Year 5 have had lots of fun celebrating health week and exploring different ways we can keep healthy.
Year 5 had the most amazing day at the life centre! We took part in a ‘Discovering chemistry’ workshop where we took on the role of a chemist and used real laboratory equipment to identify mystery powders and create new substances.
Some of our wonderful Year 5 children had great fun taking part in a tag rugby festival at Monkwearmouth Academy this week.
In Science, Year 5 began their new topic of Living things and habitats by dissecting a variety of flowering plants. They then labelled and described the functions of the parts of flowering plants, focusing on how they reproduce.
