Year 1 and Year 2 Christmas Party
Year 1 and Year 2 danced the afternoon away at their Christmas Party this week. We had party food, played games and then had some dancing competitions. It was great fun!

Year 2 have been using lots of different colours and a technique called pointillism to create some colour wheels. Pointillism is where you use small dots to create a larger picture. We also experimented with different tones of colour to ensure we used the right shade on our artwork.
We have been learning about the story of Rama and Sita and how they used light to guide themselves back to their village after a heroic battle. We watched a short video explaining the story and then put it into our own words, using actions to tell the story. We worked in small groups and each person took on the role of a different
Class 4 came to school dressed in non school uniform and donated 50p to fundraise for Children in Need. We thought about all the different ways in which our money could help those children in need and made Pudsey biscuits!
Year 2 have been writing ‘positivity notes’ for everyone an displaying them in their classroom. This is part of their Anti Bullying week activities. The children agreed that it made everyone feel happy when reading them.
Year 2 have been looking at how IT is used in shops and businesses, this week. We have been investigating how shops scan an item, using a bar code scanner, and then a computer sorts out the price and the total of the items being bought. Year 2 visited the Winter Gardens as part of our Science topic on Thursday. We learnt about the different materials which are in the environment and which properties are best for certain objects. Today we have had Mrs Walmsley come into school to answer some questions about what life was like in Southwick in the past. She showed us some lovely pictures and answered some of our questions about school, homes and shops. Thank you Mrs Walmsley!

Year 2 have worked together in groups to investigate the features and landmarks of the countries in The United Kingdom. We looked at a variety of physical and human features and had to match them to the correct country, using the information provided. Here is our lovely work!
