As part of our geography topic, the children have been learning about how the locality of the school has changed in the last 70 years, and how this has affected hedgehog numbers. Today, we compared maps of Southwick from the 1950’s until today and looked at how ‘green spaces’ have drastically declined. We decided to walk around our school grounds to look for suitable habitats for hedgehogs. We found that we don’t really have that many great habitats for them so this is something we are looking to improve.

Some of our Year 3 children took part in the Cluster Tennis competition today at Monkwearmouth School. They were all amazing and made us very proud! Their attitudes and sportsmanship were brilliant and they really were a credit to us all. Well done Year 3!

For British Science Week we investigated microplastics and how we can filter them from the ocean. We looked at what microplastics are and how they make their way into the eco-system and the food we eat. We used sand as our microplastic and investigated which material would make the best filter-we were surprised at our results!
