Rachel from Dogs Trust came in to teach us how to stay safe around dogs-we learned lots of things to keep us safe and ensure dogs are happy too-it was very informative and fun as we did some drama and acted out different scenarios!
Last week we had some absolutely wonderful news. Jessica Callaghan in Year 6 passed two trials to be selected for Sunderland Girls! This is an absolutely fantastic achievement, putting Jessica in the best ten schoolgirl footballers in the city. Needless to say, we are so proud of her and can’t wait to see her in a Lionesses kit in a few years time!
We went to the museum for a workshop on evolution and inheritance. We got to see skulls that showed the evolution of humans for the last 35million years and we put them in order too! We handled stuffed animals and looked at the way they have adapted and features they have inherited from their parents and we also got to explore the whole museum

For our harvest festival, we asked our families to donate supplies for animals in need. Some of our school council members then took all of the supplies we collected to Bryson’s animal shelter.

We did literacy, PE and science and had a great time-they even set our teachers on fire using methane bubbles!
We had a visit from Guy at Bugs ‘n’ Stuff to show us some animals from the Amazon Rainforest. We had a great day looking at them, learning about them and holding them too! Year 2 went to Southwick Community Centre to watch a production called ‘Strange Creatures.’ It was a story about an alien, called Beegu, who fell to earth and had no friends. This week, Class 11 won the Accelerated Reader challenge as they read the most books in the whole school. Maisie McCririe was also a winner, reading more books than anyone else in the school. Well done Maisie!
