Year 3 – VolkerStevin bridge design project (16.1.25)

We were lucky enough to be visited by some of the people who work for the company who are currently building the new foot bridge in Sunderland, VolkerStevin. They set the school a design challenge – to design a new bridge. We had to think carefully about where the bridge would be located, what it would be made of, the colour it would be and any special moving feature it may have. The children have had a fantastic day working in small teams to design and discuss their bridges. They have blew staff away with their ideas and enthusiasm.

Year 4 see sounds!

We started our new science topic of sound and learned that all sound is vibration. It is a hard concept to understand so we looked at ways we could see the vibrations. We used the ukuleles to see the strings vibrate, we used triangles and felt the vibrations go into our hands and up our arms and we dipped vibrating tuning forks in water

Fire pit and Hot Chocolate

As a treat for winning the singing square, Year 1 went outside to toast marshmallows around the firepit. We learnt the rules of the firepit and then sang songs. We came back and drank hot chocolate to warm up. We had an amazing time.


Reception Homework Stars…

Roman, Bluebelle and Eli all brought in their fantastic homework based on the Nativity and we were so proud-well done you absolute stars!


Year 5 World War II guest speaker

Year 5 have been learning all about World War II. Mrs Waddell’s mother came in and spoke to all of us about being a child during the war. We learnt so much about life in the war as she was our age when the war happened. She explained the different kinds of gas masks that were worn. the different air raid shelters and what

Year 6 Fireside Treats

Year 6 thoroughly enjoyed their prize for winning the singing square last week. They spent the morning around the fire pit toasting marshmallows and drinking hot chocolate. Just what was needed on a chilly Thursday morning!


Year 1 and Year 2 Christmas Party

Year 1 and Year 2 danced the afternoon away at their Christmas Party this week. We had party food, played games and then had some dancing competitions. It was great fun!


Year 5 and 6 Christmas Party

Year 5 and 6 had a wonderful afternoon celebrating Christmas and the end of a very busy term. We danced our socks off and sang our hearts out!


Year 4 Electric Cards!

Year 4 have linked their scientific knowledge of constructing electrical circuits with design and technology to create their own Christmas cards that light up!


Real life maths – money focus

It is really important that the children understand why they are learning maths and how their learning can help them in real life. Each term, the whole school will focus on a real life aspect of maths and this term the focus was money.

Each year group / class chose a different aspect of money to focus on and objective they wanted the children to grasp.
