Look what we’ve been up to

Y3 Christmas Geography

Y3 have been set a variety of missions to help Santa and save Christmas for Southwick and the rest of the world. Santa has lost all of his map so the Y3 children helped him to locate the countries and capital cities of the UK. They have also researched which European countries celebrate Christmas and have located these on a map for him too!

We are looking forward to our next mission.

Year 3 – Outdoor learning

Year 3 braved the icy weather and took their learning outside this week. In history, we have been learning about The Stone Age and how they used art to communicate as they didn’t have an alphabet to write about what they had done. The children analysed a variety of cave art pieces and then created their own on the walls of the school. Take a look at their masterpieces!

Children in Need

Class 4 came to school dressed in non school uniform and donated 50p to fundraise for Children in Need. We thought about all the different ways in which our money could help those children in need and made Pudsey biscuits!

Year 4 electrical switches in science…

This week. we used our prior knowledge of circuits to introduce using a switch-we didn’t tell the children how to use them, they investigated, problem solved and worked it out themselves-they were amazing! The children then decided to make a human circuit and test whether they could light a bulb-they soon realised our bodies don’t have the same effect as a battery!

Year 5 Esports visit…

Year 5 went to the Esports Performance Centre at The Place, Sunderland. We learnt all about the Esports Industry and the careers we could have, and even took part in an Esports tournament. We had an amazing time and would love to back there again.

Year 2 Anti-Bullying Week

Year 2 have been writing ‘positivity notes’ for everyone an displaying them in their classroom. This is part of their Anti Bullying week activities. The children agreed that it made everyone feel happy when reading them.

Year 4 Bowling

Some of our wonderful Year 4 children represented our school in a bowling competition today. All of the children were amazing and demonstrated great sportsmanship and teamwork!

Class 12 celebrate odd sock day

As part of anti bullying week class 12 have enjoyed wearing odd socks without fear of judgment from others. We have talked about celebrating differences and how we are all unique and difference before designing our own anti bullying posters.

Year 4 investigate electricity

We are loving our new electricity Science topic this half term. Today we investigated how to turn on a light bulb by making our own circuit. We had lots of fun experimenting how to connect the battery, wires and lightbulb ensuring we made a complete circuit for the lightbulb to turn on. Take a look at us in action.
