Year 3 – Chinese New Year

Year 3 have been learning all about Chinese New Year. We looked at what Chinese New Year is and how it is celebrated across the world. We discussed what continent China was on and the different human and physical geographical features.

We also looked at snakes because this year is the year of the snake! The children sorted truth and myth cards all about snakes. Some of the facts really surprised us.

We also decorated dragon masks because dragons are a huge part of Chinese culture and Chinese people dress as dragons and dance on Chinese New Year.

Learning how to say our numbers 1-10 in Mandarin was so much fun and the children picked this up very quickly.
