We started our new science topic of sound and learned that all sound is vibration. It is a hard concept to understand so we looked at ways we could see the vibrations. We used the ukuleles to see the strings vibrate, we used triangles and felt the vibrations go into our hands and up our arms and we dipped vibrating tuning forks in water to see the vibrations make the water ripple! We put rice on the skin of drums and tested different beaters and how hard we hit them to see the rice move because the skin was vibrating. We then went on a sound walk around school. We listened and thought about what was vibrating to make the sounds we heard-we had a great time investigating sound!
