For the last fifteen years Southwick Community Primary School has been heavily involved in International Partnerships with other schools in Sunderland and countries such as Norway, France, Spain, Italy, Finland and Syria.
Our projects have been varied but the common links have always included getting to know and appreciate other cultures and traditions. A number of staff and children have visited other schools to exchange views and ideas about being a citizen in our world. We have looked at the UN Rights of the Child and regularly reflect on aspects of the Charter.
One of our last projects was with three schools in Syria, just before the civil war. This year’s lantern procession has a theme og ‘One World’ and is linked to the United Nations Rights of the Child.
We believe in equipping our children with the skills and understanding of what it is to be a Global Citizen.
