Lateral Flow Testing (LFT) for COVID19

Dear Parent/Carer

Lateral Flow Testing (LFT) for COVID19

In line with Government instructions we have introduced a process known as Lateral Flow  Testing (LFT) for COVID-19 amongst our staff from Monday 25th January 2021. The idea is  to try to identify any cases amongst employees who are not presenting with any of the  symptoms of Coronavirus. We believe that testing is an important step toward reducing  transmission and controlling the spread of the virus more effectively with the aim of limiting  the disruption to your child’s education as much as possible.

Where any positive cases are identified from the LFT process, the person concerned will be  required to take a PCR test (the type of test that people have been taking up until now to  confirm or otherwise whether they have got COVID-19). At this point they have to self isolate  and anyone they have had close contact with must do the same. This may be your child if  they have been taught by the affected member of staff.

The member of staff will then have a PCR test. Once the results of the PCR test are known  then further action can be taken. If the PCR test is positive the school bubble will continue to  stay closed for 10 days. If the test is negative then your child will return to school the  following day.

These measures are all in accordance with public health requirements.

I am sure that you will be pleased to note this updated information and that you will  understand that it is necessary for us to take the above action as a precaution if required.  By taking these steps we aim to reduce the transmission of the virus within our community.

All other safety measures and government guidance remain in place for all staff and children. If you have any questions or queries please contact the school.

Take care,

Mr Robson
