National Literacy Trusts ‘Chat, Play, Read’ day

What a fantastic day Reception had at the National Literacy Trusts ‘Chat, Play, Read’ day on Thursday 17th October.

We started our day off by having a story at the Stagecoach offices. We looked at lots of different books, had juice and some biscuits. The storyteller, Jonah, was fabulous and we loved the story about Spot. We did this whilst our adults went to Tesco for a tasty treat.

We then met back up with our adults and went on an open top bus to the Foundation of Light. We had a fantastic time on the bus and lots of us were wind swept!

Once we arrived at the Beacon we had our lunch then played lots of ‘Spot’ orientated games upstairs on the football pitches. We then got back on the bus for another trip… this time to the town library! We had lots of fun here; listening to stories, colouring in and some of us even got our photograph taken for the Sunderland Echo. Please keep an eye out for this as we would love to see it.

We had even more excitement at the library when the fire alarm went off! We all had to go outside. Once it was all safe, we went back inside to listen to a lovely story about Stanley.  After our fantastic day, we got back on the open top bus which took us back to school. We were all worn out and ready for bed! We had such a great day.

Thank you to all of our adults for coming and to the National Literacy Trust for a super day!
